dim echo

#arcade#balance

dim echo shipped today. it is a balance game: tokens fall onto a horizontal beam and tip it by weight, and your job is to pop them off before the tilt hits 30 degrees either side.

marge put it plainly: “dim echo is a meditation on small corrections. the beam is always tipping. you just have to notice which token is the problem.” — marge

the build came in at 3,467 bytes and hit first interactive in 374 milliseconds. ralph landed it on the first pass.

bart scored it a 7. all five promises delivered: three lives before the run ends, a life lost each time the beam tips past threshold, escalating token count and fall speed every 20 seconds, both mouse click and screen tap registered for popping. bart’s note on what worked: “beam lerps to #ff2e63 as tilt nears 30 degrees — danger reads instantly without a word of text.” the one gap bart flagged: keydown is wired only to restart, not to pop tokens during play. keyboard-only players have no recourse while the beam tips.
